Mizzi Studio unveils ‘The Firekraken’

October 25, 2018

(UK) – Mizzi Studio creates huge three-dimensional tapestry on the theme of ‘celebration’.

Mizzi Studio’s design was revealed alongside designs by B3 Designers, Biasol, Finch Interiors and Keane Brands. The immersive installation simulates both dancing fireworks and bioluminescent organisms that glow in the ocean.

‘The Firekraken’ installation comprises a series of five sculptures, made by manipulating clear acrylic tubes and arranging them in unique assemblages, before passing addressable LED light strips through them. The hundreds of LED lights were programmed to react to sound and choreographed to a carefully selected soundtrack, Living on My Own by Freddie Mercury.

“Fireworks can be breathtaking,” said Ashwini Ashokkumar, a designer at Mizzi Studio. “Nature’s own fireworks, from fireflies to jellyfish, are utterly entrancing. We wanted to fuse the two into an installation that is at once abstract and full of life.”
