Maison et Objet marked the 50^th anniversary of Metropolitan, by Hans Harald Rath for the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Inspired by pictures of distant galaxies from the Met’s architect Edward K. Harrisson, the first model of the chandelier was a potato with toothpicks, while it now comprises brass, Swarovski and hand cut crystal.
