New colours for Martinelli Luce’s Elmetto
(Italy) – The new Elmetto lamp in pastel pink and blue is part of the Martinelli Luce’s remake project of timeless icons, including Elmetto designed in 1976 by Elio Martinelli.
Still unchanged today in aesthetic form, Elmetto has been updated with new colours after the red-ruby version for its 40th anniversary. Presented in Milano Design Week earlier this year in the classic pop colours of the original lamp, Martinelli Luce now proposes the pastel pink and blue variations, inspired by the trends launched by the Pantone colours of the year: Rose Quartz and Serenity, tones that will be protagonists of the upcoming fashion collections for 2017.
Born as a night lamp, Elmetto’s new colours perfectly interpret the soft, anti-stress colours of modern life, suitable for children’s or adult’s rooms as two cozy and enveloping tones.
The lamp in its essential simplicity, which resembles the shape of the typical metallic military hat, was reinterpreted in an ironic way by Elio Martinelli.
As with all the great design classics, Elmetto remains – even after 40 years since its creation – small, functional but of great character. Elmetto’s signature mark is a switch in the central part of the base, easy to find even at night, and a reflector that moves with a simple hand gesture.
